KIETH OLBERMANN;
"The best anchor on the best cable news program on the air today !"

MSNBC weeknights at 8pm Eastern.  Keith gives balance to the corporate right slanted news programming of MSNBC and Fox News.

It is the position of The Heartland Progressive that the Impeachment of George W. Bush should be raised to the level of a National Priority.  George W. Bush has disgraced the image of America in the eyes of the world.

Through his repeated and blatant violations of the "rule of law", and the Constitution, he has put our Liberty and our very Democracy at grave risk.  George W Bush is personally responsible for the needless deaths of uncounted 10's of thousands of people in Iraq and the greater Middle East.  He has cost nearly 3000 of our Sons and Daughters, serving in the military, their lives.  He has put us, our children, and our grandchildren deeply in debt.  It will take generations to pay off the trillion dollars or more that this ill-conceived, illegal, and immoral "War of choice" that he has waged, not in our name, but in the name of corporate profiteering and oil.

IT IS A MORAL IMPERATIVE THAT HE BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE !

Dennis Kucinich
A staunchly progressive Congressman from Ohio, Dennis Kucinch will fight the good fight for the rights of the middle class. Last week, Kucinich announced his plans to seek the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. The mass media will describe Kucinich as a fringe anti-war candidate with no chance of winning.

Kucinich is much deeper than that. Anti-war...yes! Shouldn't we all be anti-war. War does not solve the problems of the world...war only makes them worse. People die in wars, treasures are lost in wars. War should be fought only as a last resort. Bush has taken this country to war in Iraq under false pretensis and the results of that action have been devastating, to both the Iraqis and to the Americans and to the stability of the greater Middle East.

We need people in Washington like Dennis. Dennis believes in the mainstream, middle class values that made America the great country that it is. Our current President and Republican Congress have turned their backs on those values and endangered our democracy, our freedom, our rights, and our future. It would be a true blessing if a man like Kucinich, who cares about the people, not the corpocracy, were to be elected President.

Go get 'em Dennis!

Sherrod Brown
Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-Oh) is locked in a tight battle in Ohio to unseat the incumbent Republican Mike DeWine. Rep Brown is leading the progressive mainstream fight for good paying jobs, healthcare and fair trade. As a United States Senator Rep. Brown vows to "Revamp U.S. trade policy to reward corporations that create jobs at home."

Protecting Senior Citizens is a top priority for Rep Brown as a congressman he led the fight against the confusing and costly Medicare prescription drug plan, and is sponsoring legislation to fix this flawed program so seniors can get their life-sustaining medications on time and at an affordable price.

We need Sherrod Brown in the United States Senate and we need many more like him. In order for these men and women to get there they need our support. Please visit his website here and do what you can to help. If you live in Ohio make sure that you, your family and your friends are registered and that on Nov. 7th you all go to the polls and cast your ballots for Sherrod Brown.

Darcy Burner
In the 8th Congressional District of Washington State the one term Republican Congressman Dave Reichert who is the Chairman of the House subcommittee on Emergency Prepareness, Science and Technology is having his political applecart upset by the very energetic challenger Darcy Burner. A progressive fireball who gets it. Jobs, education, healthcare and getting our troops home from Iraq are what's important to her, just like it is to the rest of us.

Darcy spoke recently at the DNC Fall Meetings in Chicago. A rousing speech followed by a thunderous standing ovation heralded a rising star in the Democratic Party and a voice for the progressive movement that is spreading across the nation. A clip of her address can be seen here. If you live in the 8th district of Washington state or if you can help Darcy, please visit her website. Remember there is an election Nov 7th, we can make a difference, but only if we register and vote. Go Darcy!

Kimon Kotos
Kimon Kotos is the Democratic candidate for the 2nd Congressional District of Michigan. He is facing Pete Hoekstra, the Chairman of the House Select Committee on Intelligence.

This is a very important race for the future direction of the country. Will we have a government of, for and by the people or will we have a country of, for and by the multinational corporations and the wealthy individuals who are the base of The Republican Party. Kimon Kotos is a self made man of the people... wheras Pete Hoekstra is just another Congressman who has forgotten who the people are. Hoekstra who gets a big chunk of his campaign money from Pharma and political pac's has clearly shown where his loyalties lie.

Kimon Kotos is a strong voice for bringing jobs back to West Michigan while Pete Hoekstra is a supply sider who never saw a so-called "Free Trade Agreement" that he didn't like. As we all know these agreements are largely responsible for the outsourcing of so many jobs to other countries where the big corporations can make tons of money from reduced labor costs. That's a funny term really "reduced labor costs" what that means is instead of paying you a living wage, the corporation can send your job to India or Mexico or Bangladesh and pay some child 2 dollars a day for a twelve hour day in some sweatshop. No healthcare, no pension, no overtime, no unions, the only consequence is that you lose your job and some child loses his childhood. Since these big Multi-national corporations have no conscience it really doesn't matter to them.

Kimon Kotos remembers the time in this country when one worker in a family could earn enough money to support a family. When good union jobs provided healthcare insurance and a pension a family could rely on. A time when college tuition was affordable, it was tough but a person could manage to send a child to college. Today with the staggering increases in tuition and the Republican Party cutting federal loans and grants many who are not blessed with fat wallets, where two or three people are working in one family, simply cannot afford to send their child to College.

We as a people have got to decide what road we want our government to take... do we want a living wage, do we want jobs, do we want to protect our environment, or do we want to be in a state of perpetual war, high gas prices, living in a country where the middle class is declining in remarkable numbers.

On Nov. 7th we have a decision to make and the decision I hope you make is to elect the progressive candidate from Michigan, Kimon Kotos, to replace the conservative Bush apologist, Pete Hoekstra. Nov 7th, Register and vote for the sake of our Republic...

Phil Angelides
Phil Angelides is the Democratic candidate for Governor of California. Unseating "The Terminator" from the Governor's chair may be a challenge for the mild mannered State Treasurer but his progressive style is inspiring.

Recently at The Boy's and Girl's Club of Hollywood, Angelides laid out his agenda, "The promise of California was a birthright of the many, not a privilege of the few" said Angelides.

"That dream is in jeopardy because hard-working, middle-class families are working longer for less [because of] stagnant salaries, soaring gas prices, higher tuition for their kids and higher healthcare costs. We need a governor who will restore the promise of middle class opportunity...and put hard-working families first."

This is our kind of candidate, please check out his website here and see what you can do to help!

Congressman Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders is the Independent Congressman from Vermont. Currently representative Sanders is running to replace Senator Jim Jeffords who is retiring. This independent congressman is a model of the values of a progressive. Not Republican, not Democratic, Rep. Sanders represents the people of Vermont and the nation. Healthcare, jobs, a living wage and a government that governs within the boundaries of The Constitution are the hallmarks of his long career in government. You can learn more about Bernie Sanders and his race for the U S Senate at his website here. We need a lot more people like Bernie Sanders representing us in the U S Senate, House of Representatives and even The White House. Please visit Rep. Sanders website and see what you can do to help.

P.S. This blog page was just added and is currently being upgraded. Please check back in a couple of days and I will have more to say about Rep. Sanders as well as many other fine progressives.
